Construction Updates

49 Peggy’s way is coming along beyond nicely!

Our volunteers got the roof sheeting up at the end of January, and now we can work on the inside of the home while we finish up the outside. Shingles are being put on this week, and interior walls should be following shortly.

Work has officially begun at 50 Jennifer Lane! The lot was cleared of debris and brush in mid January, and we plan to begin the foundation in the coming weeks. This means we will be able to simultaneously be working on both 49 Peggy’s Way AND 50 Jennifer Lane at the same time! Our new construction manager Don is working very hard to plan out our current projects further into the future, to streamline the process and get us onto a good scheduling system. This way we can know much further in advanced what we will be doing when, and in theory shorten the amount of time each new build takes!

Honor Your Loved Ones for Valentines Day

A donation to Bennington County Habitat helps a family achieve the dream of owning a safe and affordable home.  Making a donation in honor of someone you love is a wonderful way to not only show them you care, but also to help others in need at the same time. This Valentine’s day, show your love by spreading said love through Bennington County Habitat!

We’ve been working very hard to increase our online presence.

It is very hard to know about what we do here at Habitat for Humanity, and not love our mission. However it is apparently hard to know we exist locally!

This is beginning to change though, with over 30,000 people seeing our pages in January on Facebook alone, and over 10,000 people interacting with our pages.

We’ve also started a YouTube channel with plans of making progress videos of our builds, or any other events we do in the future.

Lastly we have also been more active on Instagram, posting pics of what we are up to, and engaging with the local community there as well.

Between our increased online presence and new signage outside our office in Manchester Center, the overall awareness of our organization within the local community is on the rise.

Please help us with these efforts by liking our main Facebook page, our ReSale Store Facebook page, our Instagram account, and our YouTube channel.

Additionally we are working on keeping the website active and up to date. See “News” in the menu bar for updates and previous newsletters!

Shires ReSale Store

Our ReSale Store is gaining in popularity pretty much every week! Items come in and practically fly off the shelves.

If you would like to donate items please contact our store manager Barbara Lappos at [email protected] or call (802) 362-0964 Thursday-Saturday.

If you would like to donate your time and volunteer at the store, you can do that too! Simply visit BenningtonCountyHabitat.org/Volunteer for more info!

ISO Homes Needing Repairs

We have some grant funding available that we need to use by making minor home repairs in our county. Most commonly these are modifications to make the home more accessible for those with mobility issues, but that isn’t all we do! Simply have the homeowner reach out to our office to begin an application!
