Volunteers are the lifeblood of our work. No matter what your profession or interest, there’s a way for you to help us provide safe, sustainable, affordable housing to our neighbors.
Showing up to volunteer at a construction site for the first time can be intimidating, especially when you are alone. That is why we are excited to roll out Volunteer Teams so you can come with a few friends, no pressure!
Traditionally Habitat would welcome groups of 8-12 people to volunteer on the construction site with their business, school, organization, etc. While this will remain an option for schools and a few others, it is not the most ideal situation.
Our homes are designed to be energy efficient and affordable, meaning their footprint is kept to a minimum. Because of this, you can really only fit so many people on the worksite. A group of 4 is perfect, as it allows everyone to be as heavily involved in the process as they would like to be, and at the end of the day have the largest impact possible.
Your team would join us on the new construction site, and help with whatever tasks are being done that particular day. We are happy to teach you how to do different tasks you may not know how to do, and if you are not comfortable with any given task you are under no obligation to do so.
Safety is a main priority for us and will remain at the forefront on the construction sites. This is where the 4 person Volunteer Team shines. We have found that 4 is the perfect number to blend safety and efficiency.
Our Construction starts at 8:30 and goes until 2:30. We break for snacks at 10:00 (provided) and for lunch at 12:00 (Please bring your own).
Please send an email to [email protected] to schedule your team day! We can make almost any day of the week work, depending on your team’s availability.
We can plan your Team day within as little as one week, or plan into the future.
All team members must be 16 or older.
Your group does not have to be affiliated with any business or organization, a group of friends is perfect!
Use the link below to create an account on our scheduling site, which also hosts our safety waivers. All members of your team will need to create an account. Doing this now can help speed up the whole process.
