Our Programs

One Purpose, Two Approaches

Home Repair

We work with income-eligible homeowners in Bennington County to do minor home repairs, and complete accessibility aiding projects such as ramp building, or railing installation. Our team of volunteers do all of the labor, and the cost of the materials needed for the project are turned into an interest free loan, if needed. This is critical work, as our program has helped numerous individuals finally come home from healthcare facilities, to a safe, and accessible place.

Homeownership

We help qualified homebuyers become homeowners of highly energy-efficient, safe, decent houses. Homebuyer partners must have the need for housing, a willingness to partner, and the ability to pay an affordable mortgage. Every homebuyer partner makes a $500 down payment, saves closing costs, and puts in a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity. The sweat equity requirement applies to anyone in the household who is 18 years of age or older.

“I do not want my daughter to suffer from my past financial mistakes.
I want my daughter to grow up in a stable and safe place, and I believe that this will give a chance to plant my roots and begin to grow.”

-Jennifer, Habitat Homeowner
