We are THRILLED to formally announce that we will be joined by an AmeriCorps NCCC team this spring! These 12 individuals aged 18-26 will be joining us for roughly seven weeks, volunteering with us full time.
To put this into perspective, we average right around 2,000 hours of volunteer service per house that we build. These 12 individuals will be working 40 hours per week for seven weeks, bringing over 3,000 hours of volunteer time!
While we obviously won’t know the full extent of their impact until they are here and working beside us, we know for sure that their impact will be immense, to say the least. Between the physical work they will be doing at our construction sites, in our ReStore, and even in our office in Manchester, they will be making amazing headway with our organization.
The AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps program brings individuals aged 18-26 together to serve local communities across the country. AmeriCorps’ ambition is to “make service to others the cornerstone of our national culture and an indispensable part of the American experience.” This is an ambition that we (and many other Habitat affiliates across the nation) are happy to stand behind!
Be prepared to see a lot more updates, and watch our productivity increase over the next several weeks, as we will be working more hours, more days, with many more volunteers. You’ll be able to meet them all at our worksite(s), ReStore, and even our special events, such as our Model Home Competition and our 40th Home Dedication.
