Every home we build with a partner family is filled with monumental events, and meaningful interactions. From breaking ground, to raising the first walls, to finishing the roof and you can walk into a place and feel it will be a home, to the day we dedicate the home and a family moves in. It always feels as though each one is better than the last, and at the same time you think “it can’t get any better than this” as it’s happening.
This groundbreaking ceremony was no different. In fact, it might be even more momentous than previous groundbreakings, because we broke ground on two homes in one day. 26 and 27 Greenview Drive in Bennington are going to be beautiful homes, ones that are safe, efficient, affordable, and most importantly, full of love. We never take for granted our supporters. Weather it be the volunteers giving their time, the donors giving the money needed to build, or community members simply gathering to say “we love this, we want this.”
You can see by the photos below that we were in no short supply of support this day. Current and future Habitat homeowners, Habitat staff members, board and committee members, neighbors, friends, elected officials, members of the press, and curious onlookers alike all joined to witness as Bennington County Habitat broke ground on our 36th and 37th affordable home.
Thank you to everyone who came, and everyone who wanted to but couldn’t. Your support makes everything we do possible. We are thrilled to begin construction on two more houses, and can’t wait to turn them into homes!
