Beacon Bank returns!

How do we best describe this group? How about a quick story!
Our group days are from 8:30-2:30, but we often adjust that slightly when needed. So when this group needed to start at 9:30, we planned accordingly, no problem! Now imagine our surprise when every last one of them were there when we pulled up to the site at 8:57! This is if nothing else, a perfect example of the kind of people in this photo. Signing up to do something is great, but going above and beyond, showing up early, working extra days…. well thats just another Thursday for this crew.
Today was not the first time this group has volunteered with us either. They have been coming to do a build day at least once per year for quite some time now, but they also send employees to volunteer at our ReStore! Some corporate groups will send one employee at a time to volunteer for a shift at our ReStore, instead of getting everyone together for a single day. And some groups, like Beacon Bank, do both!
We have never had a “bad” volunteer, instead we have been blessed to have volunteers that range from “great” to “amazing”. Sharing stories about positive volunteer interactions is easy for any of us in the organization, because we have so many of them. So when our ReStore manager, Tiffany, reported on the success of Beacon Bank’s newer ReStore relationship with us during a recent staff meeting, we all expected the status quo which is usually “They’re great, I just wish there was more of them!” But this time, we heard a whole new kind of feedback. In Tiffany’s words “These volunteers just don’t stop hyping each other up. Every time someone else’s name comes up you’re met with “Oh they are the BEST!”

“What makes Habitat special?” This is a question we get all the time. While there is of course a laundry list of “accurate” replies, the only one that truly encapsulates what makes us different is simply; “the people.” People are the piece of our equation that makes everything else fall into place. Having a relationship with local partners, the way that we do with Beacon Bank, is what sets Habitat a bar above the rest.
